AASHA stands for Association for Acquiring Self-reliance through Handicraft Activities. Literally AASHA means hope – hope for a better future – a better living. The organization started its journey with training of women on income generation activities in 2002 While working with the women from impoverished section of the society, AASHA realized that its focus of work also has extended to nutrition, education and treatment needs of their children. The organization was registered in 2004 under The West Bengal Society Registration Act 1961. (Registration No. S/IL/21968 of 2004-05).
