Since its inception, ‘Paschim Medinipur-CRDRC” has embraced community development approach. Fascinated by our work well wishers from India and abroad have helped us to procure a piece of land. We are hoping to get more support from people around the world to create infrastructure, training provision and basic amenities for the poor on this land.
CRDRC has conducted several meetings with the local stakeholders such as the Panchayat-members (local village administration), district administration as well as individuals with influence on the community. Guidance has been sought in these meetings on how to secure projects under different government schemes for development activities in underserved areas of the district of Paschim Medinipur. The organization has also identified technical persons who on a regular basis would access information on potential project support.
CRDRC, in collaboration with the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases ( NICED), three health & hygiene campaigns were organized. These campaigns were part of the effort of NICED to commemorate ‘Nation – wide Sanitation and Cleanliness Campaign’, to mark the birth anniversary of Shri Jaya Prakash Narayan to promote health and hygiene. Information Education & Communication (IEC) materials on ‘diarrhea management at home’ and ‘steps of hand washing’ were distributed during these events. Practical demonstration was also conducted on how to wash hands properly with soap and water. Children trained on hand washing reached out to other children who came late in the event and taught them about the same. A brief session on ‘question & answer’ was held and the best three performers in this session were presented with small colorful buckets and mugs. In addition, each of the attending children was presented with a small soap and a soap case that they carried back home.
Attending children took a vow that they would teach what they learnt to other family members.
CRDRC helps people in despair and poor financial condition with warmth and love. CRDRC, in consultation with villagers and Panchayat, distributed blankets and garments to the needy during winter of 2016. Residents of four villages in Paschim Medinipur district benefitted from such activities.
